Re: Re: [Rant Mode On] Government Parasites
by davidjwbailey
1 - stupid law, for stupid reasons, bound to be interpreted wrongly by anyone. Government should have thought it through. 2 - Your point is well made: 1650's we had 460 MPs and 126 Peers for 4 to 5m people. We now have 1,599 MPs and Peer (including Scottish, Welsh and Irish Assemblies) for about 50 to 60m people. I make that a historic improvement from 1 member per 7,600 people to 1 member per 34,000 people, or an efficiency gain of about 5 times in 350 years. Given that most businesses achieve gains of about 2% to 10% per year and would have achieved improvement of a little over 1000x in the same time, I think my main point is valid. If you also realise that nearly 300 members have been "created" in my lifetime, you might also accept that the current Government is creating parasites at a rate faster than ever in history... 3 - yes, this Labour Government did create a deliberate housing and credit bubble to fund its obscene increase in taxation as a percentage of GDP, and no, the crash was nothing to do with me and I have no responsibility for it. No mortgage for 15 years, no credit card debt, no loans. My kids, however, must pay for the Government screwing up. Oh, and they will have to pay the bloated pensions of the parasites this Government created. 3 - hope your mum is well. I like the NHS (though not its prioirities nor its love of paperwork above care and nursing). I am sure that the NHS would rather we are free of parasitic infestations as well. And I mean that biologically, not sociologically.
